The Federal Privacy Commissioner headquartered at 30 rue Victoria in Gatineau Quebec is investigating the Moise Leaks.

After The Gritty news story of October 1st brought negative attention to Moise's office, Moise's chief of staff Tyler Johnson retaliated by disclosing the name of one of the Moise whistleblowers to TheGrindTO. The Federal Privacy Commissioner is now investigating.

A lot of people obviously know that Chris Moise's chief of staff Tyler Johnson runs a private business at City Hall After all, almost every progressive City Councillor is a client of Tyler Johnson. However, outside of that circle of progressives, it is not very well known that Johnson operates a private business while collecting a public salary.

Once TheGritty published a story about Johnson's activities using redacted screenshots from a potential client of Johnson's business, Johnson retaliated to the unwanted attention by releasing the whistleblower's name to a journalist at TheGrind. That journalist is now threatening to publish the name of one of the whistleblowers in an upcoming edition of TheGrind.

The October 1st story on TheGritty.ca used redacted screenshots to conceal the name and email address of the person who communicated with Tyler Johnson on September 19th through his ProgressiveNation.ca email.

However, a journalist by the name of Fernando Arce who is listed as a senior editor at the Grind allegedly contacted Johnson after the story was published, and Johnson provided Arce a name. If true, this of course means that Tyler Johnson violated the privacy of the person who signed up as a potential client at ProgressiveNation.ca

After getting the name from Tyler Johnson, the GrindTO journalist contacted the person at another email address whom he believed was the same person who contacted Johnson on September 19th. TheGrindTO asked for confirmation from the person and threatened to publish his or her name in an upcoming issue of the Grind.

One of the statements Johnson made to theGrindTO journalist insinuated that the person who contacted ProgressiveNation.ca on September 19 was not genuinely interested in obtaining a website from ProgressiveNation.ca. Rather, according to Tyler Johnson, the person contacted ProgressiveNation.ca under "false pretenses."

The whistleblower, having learned that his information was leaked by Tyler Johnson to multiple people, has since contacted the City of Toronto who referred him to the Integrity Commissioner and also to the Federal Privacy Commissioner, which has jurisdiction over private businesses. Interestingly, the email from the Deputy City Clerk does not advise the whistleblower to complain directly to Chris Moise. Perhaps he has no confidence that Moise will investigate Johnson.
